The Other Side by Jacqueline Woodson

Summary: Imagine having another child living right next door and you cannot play with her because the color of her skin. Their parents have told each girl that they cannot cross the fence, but the girls long to talk to each other. The two solve the segregation by sitting on the fence.

Review: The pictures help tell the story of the two girls. I think the girls were very lonely and wanted to be friends. I like how the girls were clever to figure out a way to play together. I think this is a good book for kids in second grade and higher.
